More than a few times, I have been told by surviving loved ones that their deceased loved ones manifested themselves in some way to them. Many times it was in the form of a dream. Sometimes it was in the form of a vision or appearance. More infrequent yet still as significant was something happening that that the survivor automatically attributes to the loved one who has passed on. Without exception it has been expressed that the vision or apparition was meant as a message of comfort. One woman told the story of a grandfather clock that began chiming approximately 10 minutes after she and her husband returned home from an outing. The clock had not been wound to run in several months. After looking around to assure nothing was taken or moved from a break in, the women freaked out. After several minutes and rehearsing what happened in her mind, she concluded that her deceased parents were sending her a message of reassurance and comfort.
Do our recently deceased loved ones make an appearance to reassure and comfort? For Christians a similar topic is discussed in Hebrews 1:14: “All angels are serving spirits sent to help those who are on the verge of receiving salvation.” Angels’ ministrations, it is believed, are not properly rendered to men, since the latter have no power of commanding them, though their ministrations to God are often directed to the good of men. I am not suggesting our departed loved ones are about what the Hebrews passage is describing. I only mean that there seems to be a similarity in some aspect. From the passage we know angels are employed by Jehovah for service. People have reported loved ones appearing, so perhaps those appearances are God’s way for caring for us.
