There is such a reality as suffering unjustly for the wrongs that others do. Sometimes people may make poor or bad choices and others experience the consequence of those bad choices. Tragically, those who watch the news see evidence of evil deeds being done and other people are suffering as a result when those who are suffering have done nothing directly to justly cause such sorrow upon their lives. It is understandable if we do something we know to be wrong or something that is foolish and not well thought through prior to doing the deed and we suffer negative consequences. We received what was to be expected. But if we suffer for wrong for which we are innocent that is entirely different.
How should we respond if and when we experience negative consequence when we are innocent of the wrongdoing attributed to the consequence? If we receive the suffering with patient endurance then this speaks volumes in our favor in regard to our character, perseverance and strength. Notice this quote from an ancient writer “…knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance, character, and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3b-4) Whether we understand the purpose behind our suffering or not, there is much value and benefit in patiently enduring, especially if what has happened was beyond our control. If our loved one died, then there was likely nothing we could have done to prevent the outcome. Also, the sorrow we experience as a result of our loss can teach us many valuable lessons of character that we then may teach others who begin their journey and need wisdom which you have learned from your travel with grief. If you are able please join us in grief support group where you may impart your wisdom and others may share theirs with you. We all benefit.
