Appeared in the Feb. 13, 1969 edition of the Chester County Independent – “Sgt. Eugene Dyer who is serving with the U.S. Army 9th Infantry Division in Viet Nam, has been awarded the Purple Heart twice for wounds received in combat. He has also been awarded the U.S. Commendation medal for outstanding bravery and the 9th Infantry Combat Badge. Sgt. Dyer is the son of the Rev. Edwin Dyer of Mifflin. He is a 1966 graduate of Chester County High School.”
