“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” -Dr. Seuss
The Library will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Day
What is the Book Club Reading? The Brown Bag Book Club met at noon Wednesday, Jan. 8 to discuss The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss. For February, we will be reading Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey. Books are available at the library for purchase in the amount of $9.91 or we can request a copy for you to borrow from another library.
The Chester County library will be hosting an open house from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday Jan. 30 to recruit members for our Friends of the Library group. We will have information on what the Friends of the Library (FOL) do for the library. There is also an event page on our Facebook page that you can follow for more information. If you want an opportunity to serve, support, and volunteer with the library, this is a great opportunity! The FOL helps fundraise for the library, promote library events, and advocate for the library in the community. We hope you attend this open house. In February, the Chester County Library will have an ongoing event, “Blind Date with a Book”. We don’t want to give too much away, but books will be covered (you cannot see the title or author) with just a small description and/or first line of the book. Patrons can check these books out for a “blind date”! This is a great way to discover new authors and genres. The Library has begun to post on Facebook, at 9 a.m. daily, a featured item of the day. These are items that have been purchased by the library recently and provide a brief description about the item. If you ever see one and would like to check it out, contact the library, respond to the Facebook post, or stop by!
Our book sale has ended and all books left over are now available for free! We have a large amount of paperback books and VHS tapes. Stop by the library during the month of January to take advantage of this great opportunity.
The Chester County Library Board will meet in the conference room at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. Any who wish to be on the agenda for this meeting must notify the library director, Savannah Gilbert, within one week of the meeting date. You can call the library at 989-4673 or follow the libraries Facebook page (Chester County TN Library) and follow the Library Board January Meeting event.
