Financial Fridays in February
Financial Fridays are coming this February to help you increase savings, spend wisely, and plan for the future. Join UT Extension each Friday in February at 10 a.m. for a FREE Zoom. Each week will have a different topic and professional, who is an expert in that area. Registration is required weekly to receive the Zoom link. CC Head Start
Pre-registration Feb. 18

The Southwest Human Resource Agency Head Start Program is now accepting applications for three and four-year-old children to attend Head Start classes beginning in Fall 2022. The Head Start Program is designed for pre-school children of low-income families who are on or under the poverty guidelines. Pre-registration in Chester County for the Chester County Head Start Center will be from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18. Pre-registration will be held at the SWHRA Community Service Center located at 269 N Church St. in Henderson. Information needed at this time includes the child’s birth certificate, immunization form, a copy of child’s TennCare/Insurance card, and Family Income Verification. Verification of income must be provided for 2021 by individual Income Tax Form 1040, W-2 Forms, Pay Stubs, and Written Statements from employers or Families First Determination.
Horse Management
Field Day Feb. 17

The UT Horse Management Field Day will be held at First Farmers Coop (16219 sr-22) Lexington on Monday, Feb. 14.  This event is open to everyone from 5-9 p.m. with a free meal served.  Call the UT Extension Chester County office at 989-2103 to register by Thursday, Feb. 10. This field day will be very hands-on oriented.  Topics will include:  body weight estimation, forage evaluation, soil testing, tack fitting, dental care and more. Fifth Annual Black History
Program Feb. 19

The Fifth Annual Black History Program will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Chester County Senior Center, 247 East Main St., Henderson. There is no cost to attend. This year’s theme is “Reviewing African American History in Chester County.” Masks will be required. Patrons will view displays about the history of African Americans in Chester County. No formal program this year. The public is invited to submit displays for this event. The deadline to submit a display board is 11 p.m. Feb. 15. Lifeline Blood Drive Feb. 21
Lifeline Blood Services will hold a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Monday. Feb. 21, at Piggly Wiggly in Henderson.
Finger Fish Fry & Chicken Dinner Feb. 26
The Finger Volunteer Fire Department will host a fish fry and barbeque chicken dinner from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26. There will be all you can eat catfish or chicken with all the trimmings and homemade desserts. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children. All proceeds will go towards the operating expenses of the Finger  Fire Department.
