American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post meeting Jan. 16
American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 in Henderson will hold its monthly meeting on beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Chester County Senior Center, 247 E. Main Street in Henderson. The American Legion is open to veterans and persons who are presently serving on active duty, with the Reserves or with the National Guard. We are also looking for new members to start Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion chapters to our Post. Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary is open to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of the American Legion, and to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. Membership in the Sons of the American Legion is open to all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in Service or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service. All persons who meet the criteria for membership are encouraged to attend the approximately 90 minute meeting and learn what the American Legion is doing in YOUR community and what the American Legion can do for you. Purdy Historical Society Program Jan. 21
The Purdy Historical Society will be meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the Fellowship Hall Purdy Presbyterian Church, on Gann RD (Old Purdy). Our program will be a Show and Tell. Bring any historical item you would like to our meeting and tell us the story behind it. Items do not have to be Purdy related. Any historical item is interesting! There  will be an Old Purdy Trade Day meeting at 5 p.m. New members are welcome! Cost is $10 yearly. For more information, call/text: 731-610-1716/731-434-7400.
GFWC Information Meeting Jan. 23
GFWC brings people together who want to improve the community in a variety of ways. We will work together for the benefit of Chester County. If your new year’s resolution was to make an impact, volunteer or  find new friends. Big Country Breakfast Feb. 8
Get ready for another “BIG Country Breakfast” from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Montezuma Community Center. We will have homemade biscuits, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy and drinks all for $6 per plate. There will also be some baked goods for sale. Come early for the best selection. These funds are used for the cost of operating our community center.
