CC Head Start Registration
Chester County Head Start, 1495 White Ave., registration is open for 2020-2020 school year. This is a free program for three and four year olds. Items needed for application is are birth certificate, shot record, physical, child’s insurance and proof of income. Give us a call at 989-5192 and ask for Shana or Lisa.
Discover Canyon Country with Selmer Senior Center
Discover Canyon Country with Selmer Senior Center Sept. 30-Oct. 7. Highlights include the Grand Canyon, Scottsdale, Kaibab National Forest, Bryce Canyon National Park, Lake Powell and much more. Early Voting Feb. 12-25
Early Voting for the March Presidential Preference Primary will be held Feb. 12–25 at the Chester County Early Voting Annex located at 126 Crook Avenue in Henderson. During that time, polls will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30 a.m.– 4 p.m., Thursday 8:30 a.m.–7 p.m., and Saturday 8:30 a.m.–noon. Election Day is Tuesday, March 3. American Legion Meeting Feb. 20
American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 in Henderson will hold its monthly meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Chester County Senior Center, 247 E. Main Street in Henderson. The American Legion is open to veterans and persons who are presently serving on active duty, with the Reserves or with the National Guard. We are also looking for new members to start Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion chapters to our Post. Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary is open to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of the American Legion, and to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States. Membership in the Sons of the American Legion is open to all male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of the American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in Service or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service.
New Woman’s Club Meeting Feb. 22
GFWC brings people together who want to improve the community in a variety of ways. We will work together for the benefit of Chester County. The Red Hat Gala will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Americana Inn, 550 Sanford St, featuring Prophetess Dianne Reeves.
McNairy Co. Historical Society Meeting Feb. 25
The McNairy County Historical Society meets the last Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Jack McConninco Memorial Library, 225 Oak Grove Rd, Selmer. James Ellis will present the program on Feb. 25. His topic will be the Bethel Springs High School. He is one of the organizers for the Bethel Springs High School Class of 1925-1969 Reunion and has worked to help preserve the history of the Bethel Springs High School. Annual Membership dues at $10 per person or $25 for family and $100 for an individual lifetime membership. Mail dues payment to McNairy County Historical Society, 114 N. Third St, Selmer, TN 38375.  Anyone interested in the history of McNairy County is invited to attend the meetings.
CC Historical Society Meeting March 2
The Chester County Historical Society will meet March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center. Our speaker will be Savannah Gilbert. She is the new Library  Director and will be discussing her goals for the library. Come join us.
Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards and Membership Banquet March 3
The Henderson|Chester County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards and Membership Banquet is Tuesday, March 3, at 6 p.m. at Chester County Junior High School Gymnasium.  Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at the chamber office located at 111 E Main Street or by calling 989-5222. 
Beekeeping Short Course March 7
The Jackson Area Beekeepers Association, Inc. will hold their annual Beekeeping Short Course at the Madison County UT Extension Auditorium, 309 N. Parkway, Jackson, on Saturday, March 7.  Registration will be from 8:30-9 a.m. Class will end about 4 p.m. The Short Course is opened to anyone interested in bees and beekeeping. Classes will be geared toward introducing the new beekeeper to beekeeping. Registration fee $15 single and $20 family. Registration fee includes the Short Course, lunch and membership to the Jackson Area Beekeepers Association.  No reservation required!
