ANN BENNETT Obituary – Aug. 11, 1930 – April 23, 2022

Annie Mae Porter Bennett, 91, of Finger passed away April 23, 2022 at her home. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Jacob Brimm officiating. Burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Monday.
She was born Aug. 11, 1930 in Chester County, in the Hickory Corner Community, the daughter of the late Ardie Willis and Pearl Stansell Porter. She attended Hickory Corner Schools and in 1953 was married to Walter E. Bennett. They made their home in Delanco, N.J. where Mr. Bennett worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone. Mr. Bennett retired in 1986, and they moved to the Hickory Corner community.
Mr. Bennett died on Nov. 21, 2020.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bethel Springs, where she was very active, when she was able.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.    
She is survived by a son, Barry Bennett of Columbia, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Bennett of Finger; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Lurene Faulkner of Ramer and Betty Jean Weaver of Finger; and one brother, Arlin Porter of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter E. Bennett in 2020; a son, James E. Bennett; and two sisters, Elvie Smith and Wanna Redmon.
