Billy Joe Thomas, 80, of Germantown passed away Aug. 31, 2021 at Methodist Hospital Germantown.
Graveside services were 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Haltom’s Chapel Cemetery with Keith Brown officiating.
He was born Dec. 15, 1940 in Chester County, the son of the late J.W. and Gladys Pearl Muse Thomas. He grew up in Chester County and graduated from Southside High School in Jackson. He was a successful businessman who owned Packaging Associates in Memphis, which he ran for 45 years.  
He loved sports and shared that with his kids. He loved Tennessee Vols Football.
He especially loved softball and continued to play up into his 60s. He was a huge University of Memphis Tiger fan and was a booster for almost 50 years.   
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Henderson.
He enjoyed traveling and spending time at his place at the river at Pickwick and at his farm in Braden. He loved animals.
Everywhere he went he saw someone he knew. He was hardworking and always active and never idle. He was caring and compassionate, a great father, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Pa Paw.”  
He is survived by three sons, Billy Joe Thomas Jr. of Henderson, Cabot (Stephanie) Thomas of Germantown and Todd Thomas of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Shane Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Justin Thomas, Angela Thomas, J Will Thomas, Randi (Josh) Meyer, Cal Thomas, Jake Thomas, Luke Thomas, Ethan Butler and Megan Butler; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Tyler Thomas; and two brothers, J.W. Thomas and Earl Thomas.
