BILLY JACK SHERRILL Obituary – March 16, 1930 – Feb. 1, 2022

Billy Jack Sherrill, 91, of Henderson passed away Feb. 1, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at Antioch Baptist Church with Carl Teel officiating.
Burial followed in Unity Cemetery. The family received friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday and then from noon-1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
He was born March 16, 1930 in Chester County, the son of the late William Wallace and Beatrice Ruby Maye Ridley Sherrill.
He grew up in the Wilson School Community and attended Chester County High School. He married Gloria Armour in 1954.
He began farming early as he inherited a portion of his uncle’s farm when he was only six years old. In addition to farming, he worked with his father doing carpentry work for 27 years, and he and his wife Gloria also built and sold homes in addition to their other vocational work.
He also worked for Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for about 12 years in the Construction Department.
He assisted in the building of the Antioch Baptist Church in 1954, where he was a Charter and current member for the last 67 years. He served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school and also assisted with anything needed in maintenance of the facility.
He loved his tractors, tractor pulls and his farm and was an Avid NASCAR fan.
His God and his wife were his two greatest loves.  
He is survived by two daughters, Renee (Tony) Jordan of Henderson and Cindy (Darrell) Jones of Henderson; grandchildren, Dylan (Jordan) Dyer, Dustin (Rebecca) Jones, Casey Jordan, Morgan Jones (BFF-Hannah Brake), Paul (Brandi) Jordan and Amy (Cole) Owens; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Adeline and Hayes Dyer, Cadence and Sara Jordan, Paige, Charlie and Grayson Owens and Noelle Gloria Jones; and a sister, Maye (James) Frix of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria Armour Sherrill on Sept. 9, 2019; and two sisters, Faye Ross and Frances Sherrill.
