Woodrow Bruce Smith, 76, of Henderson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at his home.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 4, at George A. Smith and Sons with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
Bro. Tracy Snider officiated the service. Active pallbearers were Matt Smith, Nicholas Ross, Shane Ross, Bill Heidelberg, Gerald Wiltshire and Randy Hampton. Honorary Pallbearers were Gene Smith, Donald Smith and Gary Maxwell.
He was born on Oct. 2, 1944 in Jackson to the late Woodrow Washington and Tracy Hill Smith. He was retired from the Jackson Police Department as a lieutenant after over 30 years of service. Prior to that he was employed at the Jackson Fire Department as an arson investigator. He was also employed at Rockwell Industries prior to that. He was also an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Cathi Maxwell Smith; son, Jason Smith; brothers, Gene (Gina) Smith and Donald (Chris) Smith; brother-in-law, Gary (Wanda) Maxwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Smith; and one sister, Alice Jane Harris.
