Deborah Lyn Morgan Holman Flatt, 71, was promoted to Heaven on Dec. 25, 2020, while surrounded by her family in her home after her long battle with cancer.
COVID times call for COVID precautions. A family graveside service was held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill., with Ben Flatt and Jim Faughn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Freed Hardeman Associates. We will be honoring her life at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Henderson church of Christ with family and friends sharing special memories. All will be welcome to attend at that time.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1949 in Anna, Ill., and was raised in Cairo, the middle of three children born to the late Irvin and Maxine Morgan. She married Jerry Thomas Holman on April 10, 1971. As a preacher’s wife, she lived in many parts of the country, loving and serving others. The couple had two daughters, Gretchen and Jerra.
She finished her degree in nursing in 1984. The family settled in Crossville in 1984 where she was a Labor and Delivery Nurse/Team Coordinator for almost 25 years at the Cumberland Medical Center and where she lived until the unexpected death of her husband in 2012. She moved to Henderson to be near family. Spending time with her grandkids and OASIS & YAHOO church groups were highlights of her years in Henderson. She found love again and married Ben Flatt on Jan. 16, 2016. There was never a dull moment with lots of laughter in their five years together.
She is survived by her husband of almost five years, Ben Flatt; her two daughters, Gretchen (Brad) Toy  of  Stanford, Ky.,  and Jerra (Bobby) Leek of Henderson;  “adopted” son, Anton Kryuchkov of Klin, Russia; “bonus” children, Tammie Flatt, Andy (Laura) Flatt, Lisa (Ronnie) Cummins and Tracy Boatman all of middle Tennessee; several other family members; six proud grandchildren who adored her, Brandon (Anna) Leek, Kaylin Leek, Katie Toy, Jaclyn Leek, Sarah Toy and Braxton Leek; and two great grandsons, Cason Cole and Brody Leek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pamela Hill; brother, Craig Morgan; nephew, Brian Morgan; husband of over 40 years, Jerry Holman; and “bonus” son-in-law, Jimmy Boatman.
