
Dennis Lee Parker, 85, of Beech Bluff passed away Aug. 29, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Steve Warbritton and Bro. Robert Opie Dodrill officiating.
Burial followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.

He was born April 30, 1938, in Henderson County, the son of the late Alvie and Ruth Grissom Parker Maness. He was raised by his stepfather, Harmon Maness. He attended school at Reagan and Sardis.
He began working at American Olean Tile in maintenance in 1964 and retired in 2003 after working there 38 years. He married Nancy Ellington in 1971. They made their home at Beech Bluff.
He attended the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church and was a member of the Cemetery Committee. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed cooking for others and working fundraising for various groups. He loved his family and was affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Papa.”
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ellington Parker of Beech Bluff; three sons, George (Charlotte) Parker of Beech Bluff, John (Virginia) Shelton of Arlington and Paul D. Parker of Beech; a daughter, Denise (Lenzie) Kirk of Jacks Creek; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Odell Maness of Saltillo; and a sister, Brenda Tillman of Reagan.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Maness, Roger Dale Maness, Sammy Maness, Preston Parker and Billy Ray Maness, and a sister, Wanda Maness.
