DOSSIE A. TALLEY Obituary – April 19, 1934 – Feb. 4, 2022

Dossie Allen Talley, 87, of Henderson passed away Feb. 4, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Randy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.
He was born April 19, 1934 in the Talley Store Community of Chester County, the son of the late Riley Allen (R.A.) and Ruth Augusta Sewell Talley. He graduated from Chester County High School in ‘52. He farmed in the Talley Store Community all his life. He and his dad operated Talley’s Gin. He married Shirley Smith in 1973. They made their home at Talley Town. He worked at American Olean Tile in Jackson.
He had served as a director at Chester County Bank and as a director at Chester Farmer’s Co-op.
He was a member of the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Smith Talley of Henderson; two sons, Dossie (Regina) Talley, Jr. and Chad (Hollie) Talley, all of Henderson; two daughters, Sophia (John) Antwine and Celia (Rickey) Murley, all of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Kassie Talley, Reece (Lauren) Marchbanks, Briggs, Annabelle and Reagan Tomilson, Craig (Renee) Murley, Clay (Shondra) Murley and Clint (Amber)  Murley; seven great-grandchildren, Lazurie Talley, Will and Kate Murley, Corey and Ella Murley, and Riley and Bailey Murley; a niece, Ann (Tommy) VanCleave Shearon of Jackson; and two nephews, B. J. (Pat) VanCleave of Chesterfield and Gene Allen VanCleave of Ormond Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joanne Talley VanCleave on Jan. 31, 2022.
