FLOYD MAYFIELD Obituary – Oct. 18, 1928 – May 27, 2021

Floyd Hayes Mayfield, 92, of Henderson passed away May 27, 2021 at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Roy Sharp and Billy Smith officiating. Burial followed in Estes Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-7 p.m. on Friday.
He was born Oct. 18, 1928 in the Harmony Community of Chester County, the son of the late Fritz B. and Lillie Augusta Johnson Mayfield. He attended schools at Harmony and farmed as a young man. In 1951 he married Nancy Naylor. They made their home in the Harmony Community all their married life. He worked at John Williams Steel Works for five years and then the Bemis Cotton Mill for 38 years until the mill closed in 1990. He later worked at Jack’s Restaurant.
He was a member of the Estes Church of Christ where he had attended all of his life. He had served as a Deacon for many years.
He is survived by a son, Timothy Mayfield of Madison, Ala.; two grandchildren, Tanner (Caroline) Mayfield and Naylor Mayfield; one great-grandchild, Emmett Mayfield; and a daughter-in-law, Ramona Mayfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Naylor Mayfield, Feb. 10, 2012; a son, Paul Mayfield in 1975; six brothers, Roy Mayfield, Garland Mayfield, Raymond Mayfield, Buford Mayfield, Walter Mayfield and Homer Mayfield; and two sisters, Ruth Patterson and Ruby Patterson.
