GEORGIA PHILLIPS Obituary – Jan. 9, 1929 – May 14, 2022

Georgia Beene Phillips, 93, of Henderson passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at West TN Rehabilitation Hospital.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Ben Flatt officiating.
Burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue Chapel from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. service time on Tuesday.
She was born Jan. 9, 1929 and raised at Finger, the daughter of the late James Samuel Allen and Vera C. Smith Beene.
She attended elementary school at Finger and graduated from Bethel Springs High School. She married C.H. Phillips Nov. 13, 1948 and made their home in Henderson since 1962.
She had worked at Brown Shoe, Owens Corning Fiberglass and General Electric in Selmer. She was also a licensed beautician working from home.
She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ since 1962.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She and C.H. attended the annual reunions of the USS Iowa for many years.
She was a member of the Chester County Senior Citizens and had earned hundreds of medals at the Tennessee Senior Olympics.
She was inducted in the Tennessee Senior Olympics Hall of Fame in 2018.
She bowled regularly in the Jackson Senior Bowling League.
She was an avid supporter of the Freed-Hardeman Athletics and was one of four members of the basketball Golden Girls.
She is survived by son, Rex (Denise) Phillips of Finger; daughter, Elaine (Mike) Williams of Lexington; a sister, Joyce Lott of Henderson; four grandchildren, Jill (Seth) Bowen, Adam (Jennifer) Phillips, Phillip Williams and Blake (Mallory) Williams; and six great-grandchildren, Baylee, Brooks, and Bryce Bowen, Knox Phillips, Halle Sawyer and Parker Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Bob Beene.
