Glenda Mae Griffin Johnson, a Henderson native, passed away in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020. 
A memorial service was held for her at the Twin Lakes Senior Living Community on Aug. 30. She will be interred at the Henderson City Cemetery after a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The daughter of the late Pearl and Warren Griffin, she graduated from Chester County High School and attended Freed Hardeman.  In 1954, she married John Armpstead Johnson, II, also of Henderson and the son of the late Armpstead Meeks Johnson and the late Nancy Thomas Johnson.
She lived a full life as Mr. Johnson’s partner while his education and career took them to Oxford, Miss.; Paris, France; Milan; Dallas, Texas; Chicago, Ill.; Sacramento, Calif.; Baltimore, Md.; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Amelia Island, Fla. At each stop in their journey together, she made countless friends.
She is survived by Mr. Johnson, now of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughters, Jacqueline (John) Hicks of Nashville and Jennifer (Bruce) Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren of whom she was immensely proud and fond of: Jack (Leigh) Hicks of Nashville, Allison (Carter) Hicks Younts of Memphis, Amelia Hall of Lexington, Ky., and Anna Hall of Cincinnati, Ohio; her sister, Reba (Paul) Forshey of Fairfield Glade; and nieces, Cheryl (Matt) Counts Gilbert and Kelly (Mike) Counts Self.
