JACOB ROUSE, SR. Obituary – Nov. 10, 1938 – July 24, 2022

Jacob Aster Rouse, Sr., 83, of Henderson passed away July 24, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with burial in Old Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.     
He was born Nov. 10, 1938 in Chester County in the Plainview Community, son of the late John Wesley Bishop and Toker Rouse. He attended Chester County Schools. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. He served as quartermaster of navigation on the USS Navarro.
He married Carolyn Matthews in 1964. He began working with TVA in 1965 and became supervisor of building transmission towers. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1993. He was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.         
He is survived by wife, Carolyn Matthews Rouse; son, Jacob A. “Jay” Rouse Jr. of Henderson; daughters, Lorrie Ann (David) Ashbrook of Henderson and Lisa Annette Russell of Jackson; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Jean Bishop, Mildred Faye Goodwin, Barbara Ann Flatt and Kathy Lou Vann.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sylvia Louise Johnson and Frances Vann.
