Glenda Jean King Holder, 81, of Medon went to be with her heavenly family Sept. 30, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery. The family received friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
She was born April 16, 1942 and was reared in the Deanburg Community. She was the daughter of the late Clyde Edward and Mary Opel Hearn King. She was a graduate of Chester County High School.
She married her high school sweetheart Joe Edward Holder in 1960, and they made their home in Henderson until their children graduated high school. They moved to Jackson in 1986 and eventually settled in the Medon Community.
She was a homemaker, taking care of her two children, the late Sherry Renee Holder Hunt and Tim Alan Holder. She was a great cook, enjoyed the beach and the mountains and loved her grandchildren. She was a member at Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joe E. Holder; her son, Tim (Alicia) Holder; three grandchildren, Colton Tyler Hunt, Bayley (Hunter) Madison Holder Smith and Britney (Peyton) Hanna Holder Lynch; and son-in-law, James Steve Hunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter; a brother, Walter Lee King; and one sister, Opal June Taylor.
