JOE JETT Obituary – Aug. 25, 1935 – Feb. 4, 2020

Joseph Cabell Jett, III, 84, Medon passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at his home. Memorial services were 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8,  at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Billy Smith and Roy Sharp officiating. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday.
He was born Aug. 25, 1935 in Henderson the son of the late Joseph Cabell Jett, II and Ruby Turbeville Jett. He grew up in Colorado Springs, Colo., and moved back to Henderson after he graduated from high school where he worked in his grandfather’s store Gibson’s Dry Goods.
During this time, he met the love of his life Shirley Ruth and married her a year later on Sept. 4, 1955. They enjoyed 64 years together. He owned and operated Jett Hardware Store from 1961 till 1976. He then managed Handy Home Center in Jackson and later transferred to HCI in Jackson, retiring in Feb. 2001. He owned a cattle farm, and his passion was horseback riding. He loved his family very much and especially loved watching his granddaughter Chelsea play softball and great-grandsons McKinley and Cason play baseball. 
He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Ruth Jett of Medon; two sons, Robert Cabell (Anita) Jett of Jackson and David Joseph (Debbie) Jett of Henderson; a daughter, Susan (Terry) Jett Sutherland of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Hopkins, Malarie Alexander, Mia Jett, Brittany Jett, Madeline Jett, Anthony White and Chelsea Jett; eight great-grandchildren, McKinley Hopkins, Cason Hopkins, Mirabel Alexander, Niko Roman, Evie Yopp, Canaan White, Karson White and Nova White; a brother, William ‘Bill’ (Pat) Jett of Pueblo, Colo.
