
John William Kirby, 78, of Henderson passed away July 5, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Friday, July 7, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Ben Flatt officiating.
Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. service time on Friday.
He was born Sept. 11, 1944 in Henderson, the son of the late Wells Holman and Gladys Johnson Kirby. He attended Chester County Schools and married Dale Jones in 1974. They made their home in the Glendale Community. He worked as a carpet installer at Duck’s Carpet and several other carpet companies. He retired as warehouse manager at Deaton’s Carpet One.
He enjoyed raising cows and raising and showing horses, Tennessee Walking Horses and Pleasure Quarter Horses. His favorite horse was Frosty. He was an avid bowler and member of the Jackson Businessman’s League for over forty years. He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Dale Annette Jones Kirby of Henderson, and a sister-in-law, Robbie Kirby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wells Kirby.
