Born in Henderson on Nov. 24, 1932, he was the son of Ervin B. Morris and Ethel Thompson Morris. A 1951 graduate of Chester County High School, he actively participated in football, basketball and baseball.  His participation in sports continued beyond high school, playing fast pitch softball with several local men’s teams and coaching his sons’ and daughter’s baseball and softball teams.
In the early years, he worked for Bowyer & Johnson Construction building roads, followed by working as a warehouse manager for Eli Witt – Hav-A-Tampa for 21 years. In 1978, he started Morris Plumbing and Wiring until he retired in 1998. He was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church and worked in building maintenance for 40 years. He helped run the sound system for church services and often worked with the United Methodist Men’s group in serving his church and community.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Betty, to different parts of the U.S. but especially visiting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and liked to duck hunt as well.
He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Lynn) of Collierville and Joe (Charlene) of Peach Tree City, Ga.; daughter, Carol (Steve) Pope of Oviedo, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Grandad.”
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Horn Morris; his sister, Mildred Morris Patterson (Clarence); and a brother, Marvin Morris.
