Johnie Wayne Plunk, 88, of Henderson passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at his home in Henderson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating.
Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery. The family receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Henderson.
He was born Sept. 26, 1933 in the Sweetlips Community of Chester County, the son of the late Ambrose Melvin and John Dell Miller Plunk. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1951. He worked for W.H. Johnson & Son Contractors as an electrician for eight years. He worked with Dewey Williams as an electrical contractor and for Conley Electric in Milan for a few years, while working for Conley Electric and Tillman Electric he wired the Grinnell Building at Magic Valley.
He worked as an electrical inspector as a self-contractor for the State of Tennessee in 1980 and worked as an electrical inspector until his retirement. He attended First Baptist Church in Henderson.
He married Betty Sue Cummings Logan in 1963. They made their home in Henderson. Mrs. Plunk passed away Jan. 23, 2018.
He is survived by a son, Phillip Rex Plunk of Henderson; one daughter, Sandra (Russ) Bethea of Henderson; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Plunk in 2018; a daughter, Sherry Harrison in Jan. 2022; one stepson, Anthony Logan in 2000; and a sister, Julia Isanell Hunt.
