Mr. Karol Eugene Hanson passed away Sept. 12, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County Hospital.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Pastor John Baker officiating.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. service time on Tuesday.
He was born March 10, 1936 in Detroit Lakes, Minn., son of the late Theodore Oliver Hanson and Mildred Freebury Ponto.
He graduated from Sheyenne River Academy in Havey, N.D. He briefly attended Madison College, Madison, where he met Becky.
He was united in marriage to Rebecca Jane Vaughan on March 10, 1958 in Madison. He honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in Panama. He was a painter by trade.
He enjoyed working in his flowers and was especially proud of his roses. He loved all animals especially his parakeet Snowflake whom he had for the past six years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Becky Hanson of Henderson; three sons, Melvin (Anna) Hanson of Syracuse, N.Y., and James (Lisa) Hanson and Brian Hanson of Henderson; grandchildren, James Reinmann, Rachel Hanson, Joseph Hanson, Heather Hanson, Melanie Nelson and Andrew Hanson; three great-grandchildren, Colby, Matte’a and Aviana; and three sisters, Gertrude Krogstead, Emily Digmann and Donna Lyman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rhonda Hanson Dee; an infant brother, Melvin C Hanson; and two brothers-in-law.
