Laverne Mae Massey Lynch, 98, of Adamsville passed away Aug. 29, 2023, at the Adamsville Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Rev. Tim Escue officiating. Burial followed at Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at East Main beginning at noon Friday until 2 p.m. service time. Special thanks to the loving staff at Adamsville Health and Rehabilitation. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
She was born May 26, 1925, in the Masseyville Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Edward E. and Ida Mae Brooks Massey. She married Kenneth J. Price in 1941, and they lived in Memphis for many years before moving to Chester County in 1976 to the Deanburg Community. Mr. Price preceded her in death on June 13, 1983. She was very active in her community and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She married Curtiss Lynch in 1987, and they made their home in Deanburg before moving to Henderson. Mr. Lynch preceded in death on Jan. 12, 2018. She was very family-oriented person who loved her family. She was a very “hands on” person, who did much of the work on her rental properties herself. She loved to help people.
She is survived by a son, Ken Price of Henderson; one daughter, Sherry (Howard) Escue of Henderson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth J. Price and Curtiss R. Lynch, and four sisters, Thelma Creasy, Eloise Frost, Dean Williamson and Jeanne Allen.
