Linda Faye Barnes Jacobs, 77, of Finger passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at the emergency room of Jackson General Hospital after an automobile accident earlier in the afternoon. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Estes Church of Christ with Mark Blackwelder and Doug Burleson officiating. Burial followed at the Estes Cemetery with Danny Eubanks officiating. The family received friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Monday and again from noon- 2 p.m. service time Tuesday at the Estes Church building.
She was born in Jackson and grew up in Selmer, the daughter of the late Raymond Cleo “R.C.” and Freddie Mae Tackett Barnes. She graduated from McNairy Central High School in 1963 and married Henry Edward Jacobs in 1965. They made their home in Selmer a few years before moving to Chester County in 1973. She worked at Brown Shoe Company in Selmer a few years and then at the Freed-Hardeman University Bookstore beginning in 1984. She retired as bookstore manager after serving 20 years in that position. She had been a member of the Estes Church of Christ since 1973 and had been active in the bible school teaching program. She enjoyed cooking, working in her flowers and going to lunch with friends.
She is survived by two sons, Jody (Heather) Jacobs of Henderson and James Jacobs of Joelton; three grandchildren, Makenna, Morgan, and Andrew; and a brother Neal Barnes of Selmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Henry in February 2022.
