Linda Gayle Coleman Ross, 72, of Henderson passed away Jan. 2, 2023, at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Pastor Mike Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Mifflin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday service time.
She was born Sept. 14, 1950, in Lexington, the daughter of Virginia Ann Jones Coleman and the late Clarence Andrew Coleman. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1968.
She married Sammy Joe Ross on May 24, 1968. They made their home in Mifflin. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2014.
She and her husband owned and operated Hilltop Grocery for 10 years. She then began working at the Dollar Store in Jackson and then the Dollar Store in Beech Bluff, retiring as store manager in 2011.
She was a member of the Mason Wells Non-Denominational Church in Pinson.
She loved cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Virginia Jones Coleman of Lexington; three daughters, Angela (Jeff) Adams of Henderson, Amy (Kenneth) Williams of Mifflin and Andrea (Donny) Hornsby of Beech Bluff; six grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Autumn Hutchison, Jasmine Williams, Aubrey Hornsby, Amber Schultz and Meredith Adams; and two great grandchildren, Brayden Schultz and Maggie Schultz.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Andrew Coleman; her husband, Sammy Joe Ross; two brothers, Kenneth Coleman and Tony Coleman; and a sister, Pat Britt.
