Lois Marie (Hunter) Morris, 91, of Henderson passed away Oct. 23, 2023, at her home. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with burial in the Hunter Cemetery with Hunter Callis officiating. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday.
She was born in Chester County March 22, 1932, daughter of the late Will and Cora Colston Hunter. She grew up in Chester County and attended Wilson School.
She married James Leonard Morris in 1947. They lived most of their lives in Chester County. Mr. Morris preceded her in passing on April 6, 2004.
She sold insurance for Liberty National for several years retiring in the mid 1990’s. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She was faithful to read her Bible, and she could quote a lot of it. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and cooking (chocolate pie was her specialty). She loved her family and grandchildren who dearly loved their grandmother and “G.G.”
She is survived by a son, Steve Morris of Henderson; two daughters, Barbara (Steve) Robertson of Henderson and Brenda (Pete) Guzzo of Jackson; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Brent) Weeks, Erin (Henry) Perrigo, Olivia, Peter and Joel Guzzo; and six great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Thomas Edward Hunter, William Bernice Hunter, Roy Hunter and Ira Cecil Hunter; and three sisters, Willie Mae Hailey, Inetha Haggard, and an infant sister.
