MAE DELL THOMPSON CHUMNEY Obituary – March 31, 1927 – Nov. 14, 2019

Mae Dell Thompson Johnsey Chumney, 92, of Henderson passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with David Weatherford and Candice Thompson Fall officiating.
Burial followed in Johnson Crossroads Cemetery.
The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18.
She was born March 31, 1927 at Jacks Creek, the daughter of the late William Jefferson and Lessie Lee Holmes Thompson. She attended schools in Chester County.
She was married to Wallace Johnsey, and they made their home in Jackson and Pennsylvania. Mr. Johnsey died in 1963.
She later married Max Chumney, and they made their home in Madison County and Decatur County. Mr. Chumney died in 1992.
After his death, she moved to Henderson in 2007 to be close to her son, Steven.   
She is survived by two nieces, Brenda (Donnie) Hanna of Henderson and Candice Thompson Fall of Arab, Ala., and a sister-in-law, Geralene Thompson of Biloxi, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Wallace Johnsey and Max Chumney; a son, Steven Johnsey (3-22-2019); three brothers, Nolan Thompson, Willard Thompson and Everette Thompson; and one sister, Nina Sue Thompson.
