Mary Barnhart Obituary – Nov. 24, 1934 – Oct. 10, 2020

Mary Frances Phillips Sides Barnhart, 85, passed away Oct. 10, 2020 at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Ala. Services will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Henderson TN 38340 on Saturday, Oct. 17, with visitation from noon-2 p.m. followed by burial at Chester County Memorial Gardens.
She was born Nov. 24, 1934 in Finger and grew up on a farm just outside of Henderson, surviving her parents Dewey Willie and Maude Willy (McKenzie) Phillips. 
She moved to Memphis after graduating Chester County High School in 1953 working as a data input analyst. She married Roy Sides in Desoto County, Miss., on Nov. 22, 1956 and became a homemaker raising three stepchildren, James Kenneth Sides, Aline “Lucy” (Sides) Mullins and Linda Louise (Sides) Radford, and three children, David Roy Sides, Steve Paul Sides and Mary Lynne (Sides) Croft.
She loved antiques, cooking, making jewelry and flower arrangements, painting, pottery, sewing, sightseeing and traveling. After her husband, Roy died in 1980, she graduated from Itawamba Community College as a licensed nurse and practiced nursing for 25 years in Mississippi and Florida eventually retiring in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
She is survived by stepchild, Linda Louise (Gus) Radford; children, David (Angie) Roy Sides, Steve Paul (Kathryn) Sides and Mary Lynne (Greg) Croft; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, James Howard Phillips, Mildred Louise Phillips, Cecil Phillips, Nina Sue (Phillips) Haley and Richard Dewey Phillips.
