Mary Graple Minton Jones, 97, of Henderson passed away Wednesday evening at her home in Henderson. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson – Crook Avenue with Ben Flatt officiating. Burial followed at the Henderson City Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 30, and from noon-2 p.m. service time Saturday, July 31.
She was born in Decatur County, the daughter of the late Tom Sanders and Finnie Horton Minton. She attended schools in Madison County and in 1946 married William Homer Jones. They made their home on East Third Street in Henderson.
She worked at Salant and Salant until 1952 and sold Avon for over 50 years. She made the President’s Sales Club with Avon for many years.
She was a nice and caring person and always put others before herself. She loved her family and made many sacrifices for them. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
She is survived by a son, Danny (Debbie) Jones of Henderson; brother, Johnny Minton of Michigan; son-in-law, Mike Hunt; four grandchildren, Caycee Jones, Dee Dee Jones, Jason Hunt and Ashley Hunt McCullough; and three great-grandchildren, Micah Paige McCullough, Asher Daniel Jones and Weslee Elizabeth Cowley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Homer Jones; daughter, Debbie Hunt; two brothers, Thomas Minton and Earl Minton; four sisters, Nancy Vann, Marie Bryant, Maudine Cardwell and Corda Mae Key; and grandchild, Will Hunt.
