MARY ORICK COLLINS Obituary – Nov. 29, 1947 – Feb. 19, 2020

Mary Lou Orick Collins, 72, of Henderson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with John Sweeney, Larry Oldham and Mark Collins officiating.
Burial followed at Henderson City Cemetery.
The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday and from noon until funeral time Sunday.
She was born Nov. 29, 1947 in Jackson and grew up in Henderson, the daughter of the late Carley Wroten and Electra Galbraith Orick. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1965 and received an Associates of Arts Degree at Freed-Hardeman in 1967 and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Lambuth in 1969. She married John Collins of Hohenwald in 1973, and they made their home in Henderson.    
She began working at Freed-Hardeman and worked for 24 years, retiring as Administrative Assistant for the School of Education in May 2009.
She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ where she had taught in the Sunday school program. She was a former member of the Freed-Hardeman Associates.
She is survived by three sons, Mark (Alicia) Collins of Nashville, Justin (Sandra) Collins of Franklin and Jared (Marah) Collins of Henderson and five grandchildren, Anna, Adam, Cameron, Andy and Saul Collins. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. John Collins, July 2017.
