Melissa “Missy” Dean peacefully passed away, at her home, Sunday, July 11, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. For several years her wishes were for there to be no funeral and no memorial service. She made it crystal clear to the entire family that she wanted to be cremated and have her ashes spread in her most favorite place in the world, Cades Cove.
She was born Oct. 9, 1968, the daughter of Diane Hooper Jordan and the late JD Jordan. Melissa graduated from Chester County High School in 1986 and from Jackson State Community College.
She worked in office management and accounting most of her work life in West Tennessee and Middle Tennessee. She loved to travel, to go and do, with the Smoky Mountain area being her favorite.
She is survived by her son, her pride and joy, Dalton Grey (Tiffany) Seratt, of Beersheba Springs; her mother, Diane Jordan; brother David (Vicky) Dean; sister Julie (Jim) Vest; nieces, Jordan (Don, Madison and Abigail), Megan (Mark and Addison), Kendyl (Adam, Layden and Tucker) and Tori (Alex); niece, Aubrey; nephew, Austin; much loved uncles and aunts, Ray and Shirley, Doris and Donald and Phil and Merideth; cousins, Donna (Doug, William, Justin and Lindsay), Brian (Carrie and Bladen) and Kevin (Annalisa and Cora); many dearly loved friends, and without a doubt, you all know who you are.
She was preceded in death by her dad, JD Jordan; her grandmother, Mimi (Evelyn Harrison); Aunt Flora Jordan; and Cousin Dolores, all of whom she dearly loved, admired immensely, and patterned herself after.
