MIKE KING Obituary – Nov. 30, 1946 – May 24, 2021

David Michael King, 74, of Henderson passed away May 24, 2021 at Baptist East Hospital.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with family members speaking.
The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. on Wednesday.
He was born Nov. 30, 1946 in Jackson, the son of the late David Frye ‘Johnny’ and Lona Mae Sells King. At the age of 10, his family moved to Glendale, Ariz., where he grew up and attended school, graduating in 1964. He went to college to become a pharmacist but then joined the Air Force during his college days. He served four years in the Air Force, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon completion of four years of service, he returned to Chester County. He married Peggy Jane Vestal on Oct. 1, 1972, and they made their home in the New Friendship Community. He was an excellent technician, working for ATT for 35 years, retiring in August of 2006. He was a Baptist in belief.
He loved to fish, enjoyed woodworking and especially liked to spend time with his grandchildren.  
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jane Vestal King of Henderson; two daughters, Kimberly (Stan) Clayton of Pinson and Michelle Ray of Henderson; five grandchildren, Nathan (Shannon) Clayton Natalie (John) Leland, Jada King and Johnathan (Grace) Ray and Tyler (Shelbie) Ray; and two great-grandchildren, Carter Clayton and Michael Ray.     
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jason Michael King.
