Before the huge winter storm, Chester County High School had an action-packed week. With basketball games, sports tryouts, and pageants, nearly every student attended a school event.
To begin the week, the track team held tryouts on Monday, which lasted all week. Since the team has been to state every year since its formation, these tryouts are an essential first step to building the new team to keep this legacy alive. With many state competitors returning, it appears that this team will have record numbers attending the championships this year. We will be expecting these results in the spring when the season begins.
Next up, on Thursday, many beautiful young women competed in the Miss Henderson Pageant hosted by FCCLA. The results follow: Third Alternate: Brooklyn Butler, Second Alternate: Kathleen McDaniel, First Alternate: Lillie Patterson, Crowd Favorite: Ally Arnold, and Miss Henderson 2024 (Queen): Lana Rowland. All the participants did a fantastic job.
The following night, the Eagles and Eaglettes faced the South Side Hawks. Last year, the Lady Hawks dominated the entire season and won the state championship. Given that they moved into the same district as our teams this year, they were a force to be reckoned with. The Eaglettes came in confident, not wanting to end their undefeated streak at home. They did precisely that. Down by one point with three seconds left to go, Jariyah Williamson knocked down two free throws to seal the game after being fouled on a three-point shot. The boys matched this energy and defeated the Hawks. Although the game became close in the fourth quarter, the Eagles dominated most of the game until that point. Great job to both teams! It’s been another great week in Chester County!
