RICHARD KIRBY Obituary – Feb. 24, 1929 – Jan. 3, 2023

Richard Ramsey Kirby, 93, of Henderson passed away Jan. 3, 2023, at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center. 
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue.
Burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday.
He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Brownsville, the son of the late Randall and Hazel Ramsey Kirby. He grew up in Brownsville and graduated from Haywood High School.
He then attended Tennessee Tech University and earned a B.S. Degree in Agriculture.
He married Joyce Worrell on Aug. 23, 1953. They made their home in Brownsville a short time and moved to Henderson in 1955.
He worked as a soil conservationist in Henderson for 42 years, retiring in 1997.
He enjoyed golfing, chatting and drinking coffee every morning at Jacks; he enjoyed getting his lunch from the sweet ladies in the Deli at Piggly Wiggly, visiting his friends at Centennial Bank and then having supper at Chow Wagon.
He was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Jerry) Emerson of Henderson and Kim (Mark) Stewart of Collierville; five grandchildren, John (Leslie) Stewart, Drew (Fiancée Jessica) Stewart, Becky (Clint) Hutcherson, Brad (Jesica) Emerson and Brandon (Lauren) Emerson; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Billy (Martha) Kirby of Brownsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Louise Worrell Kirby on June 15, 2011; and a brother, Winston Kirby.
