ROBERT WHITLEY Obituary – FEB. 4, 1945 – OCT. 10, 2021

Robert Earl Whitley, 76, of Henderson passed away Oct. 10, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Cindy Cooley officiating. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 6-7 p.m. service time on Monday.
He was born Feb. 4, 1945 in Selmer, the son of the late Riley and Freddie Millsaps Whitley. He attended schools in Selmer. He worked as an electronic repairman, particularly on Zenith TV’s. He was a long hauler for Choctaw Trucking out of Jackson, and later Reese Trucking, Ronnie Anderson, Workman Trucking, all for over 35 years. He enjoyed going to the races and was a NASCAR Fan. He enjoyed go karts and dirt racing.  
He is survived by a son, Robin (Ruth) Whitley of Henderson; three daughters, Cindy (Michael) Cooley of New Johnsonville, Rhonda (Michael) Scates of Lobelville and Sherry Anderson of Mt Pleasant; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Kathy Busby; and her children, Pam Pickett, Amy Busby and Jason Busby.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, James Wilbanks, Jessie Lee Wilbanks, J. L. Whitley and Kennet Whitley; and a sister, Anne Hazelwood.
