The Chester County Junior High Eagles wrapped up a strong regular baseball season with an 11-5 overall record and a 6-4 mark in conference play, earning the No. 4 seed in the Best of the West Tournament.
The Eagles opened postseason play on Monday, April 20, with a matchup against No. 5 seed Hardin County.

The Eagles set the tone early by getting runners on base and putting pressure on Hardin County. Chester County continued to add on throughout the game, finishing with eight hits while drawing 14 walks to keep constant pressure on Hardin County’s defense.
Brett Wilson and Maddox Lewis led the way offensively. Wilson recorded two hits and drove in a run, while Lewis added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Knox Phillips also contributed with a hit and two RBIs, helping fuel the Eagles’ 16-run performance.
On the mound, Maddox Lewis earned the win, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing five runs, only two of which were earned, while striking out three. He was supported by Bray Crouse and Knox Phillips in relief, with Phillips recording two strikeouts in a scoreless appearance to help close out the game.
Chester County’s ability to get on base and deliver crucial hits proved to be the difference, as the Eagles advanced with a strong opening-round victory.
Chester County’s season came to an end in the semifinals on Tuesday, April 21, with a 7-0 loss to Decatur County.
The Eagles collected five hits on the night, led by Talon Clayton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Sawyer Ferrell and Maddox Lewis each added a hit, while the Eagles also worked four walks but were unable to push a run across, leaving nine runners on base.
Decatur County broke the game open early, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding four more in the third to build a lead the Eagles could not overcome.
On the mound, Clayton took the loss after allowing six runs over two innings of work. Knox Phillips provided solid relief, pitching two innings and allowing just one run while striking out two.
Despite the semifinal loss, the Eagles finished the season with a strong record and showed consistent growth throughout the year.
