Vera Mae Tucker Cole, 90, of Henderson passed away July 5, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Henderson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Roy Sharp and Billy Smith Officiating. Burial will follow in Booneville Cemetery, Booneville, Miss. at 4:30 p.m. with David Sweeney officiating. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 12:30-2 p.m. on Friday.
She was born Nov. 11, 1930 in Fayette County, Ala., daughter of the late Israel Snow and Fleecie Lou Emmie Aldridge Tucker. She grew up in Walker County, Ala. She married Lee Quitman Cole Nov. 11, 1945. They made their home in Booneville, Miss. Mr. Cole preceded her in death in 2014 after 69 years of marriage. She was primarily a homemaker but worked as a clerk for many years at Floyd Drugs in Booneville.
She was a wonderful decorator. She was very active in church and worked alongside her husband during his preaching ministry. She had been a member of the Henderson Church of Christ since 1998.
 Her family was her pride and joy. She was very hospitable and outgoing. She loved and leaves behind her feline companion, Bella.
She is survived by sons, Gary Quitman (Myra) Cole of Carbon Hill, Ala., and Frankie Snow (Debbie) Cole of Huntsville, Ala.; daughter, Deborah (John) Cole Sweeney of Henderson; grandchildren, Lee Ann (Richard) West, David (Janet) Sweeney, Christie (Fiancé Jason Etheridge) Stevens, Kristen (Ed) Sanderson, Jamie Cole and Frankie (Alex) Cole, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Carliauna (Blake) Burress, Brent (Maitlin) West, Jonathan Sweeney, Clayton Stevens, Anslee West, Drew Sanderson, Quincy Sanderson, Trenton Sweeney, Carsyn Cole, Cole Sanderson, Frankie Cole, III, and Chase Sanderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lee Quitman Cole; sister, Anna Lou Couch; and grandson Stephen Sweeney.
