WILLIE “BILL” FRYE Obituary – Dec. 14, 1935 – Sept. 23, 2022

Willie Alford Frye, 86, of Pinson passed away Sept. 23, 2022 at AHC Forest Cove in Jackson.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Kenneth Dallas officiating.
Burial followed in Old Friendship Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-3 p.m. on Monday service time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
He was born Dec. 14, 1935 in McNairy County, the son of the late Alford Dewey and Lela Elizabeth Rouse Frye. He grew up and attended school in McNairy County. He was married to Betty Cupples for 27 years, and they lived in Madison County.
He worked as a supervisor for International Paper (Duro) in Jackson for 34 years.
He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and spending time with his dogs. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Sam.
He is survived by a son, James Robert (Wendy) Frye of Jackson; a stepson, John (Rebecca) Smrt of Memphis; stepdaughters, Cindy Smrt of Carrollton, Texas, Debby (Jerry) Scott of Pinson and Sandy Whitaker of Pinson; eight grandchildren, Robby Frye, Randy (Miranda) Frye, Tyler (Kim) Smrt, Jack Smrt, Gunner (Anna) Scott, Sara Templeton, Hannah Whitaker and Heather Whitaker; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary (Paul) Godsey of Bartlett and Linda Faulkner of Finger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Edith Dallas, Estell Russell, Frances Nelson, Reva Melton and Bonnie Frye; and a brother, Wilbur Frye.
