Another week of amazing learning here at Jacks Creek Elementary! Important dates to remember: our Believe Kids fundraiser ends 9/19 and Spirit Shirts fundraiser ends 9/20. The class that brings in the most orders for Believe Kids will get to wrap our principal, Mr. Buckley.
The Beekeepers of the Week are Olivia Taylor and Lily McClellan. Olivia’s favorite books are books about horses. Her birthday is May 11, and her favorite food is pizza. Lily’s favorite book is Sarafina. Her birthday is Aug. 10, and her favorite food is ice cream.
Kindergarten had a fantastic week! We are working on writing skills, sight words, beginning sounds, comparing groups and counting being careful not to skip numbers. Please look over the spirit shirt sale flier and Believe Kids fundraiser magazines that were sent home. We appreciate your support in helping our classroom and school.
We have had a great week in first grade! We read the stories “The Crowded, Noisy House” and “The Tale of Peter Rabbit.” We discussed the characters, setting, events and moral of each story. We learned that things could always be worse than what they are and to always obey our parents. In skills we continued reading in our readers and learning to answer comprehension questions by writing complete sentences. In math we continued addition and subtraction strategies within 10. We are working hard to learn how to solve various types of word problems.
We have been working hard in second grade! We are finishing “The Cat Bandit” and wrapping up tall tales. In math we are learning different strategies for adding and subtracting within 30. Thank you for all the PSO memberships that were purchased. We look forward to upcoming events and all the knowledge we will gain in second grade.
Third grade is learning all about animal classifications and how scientists organize animals based on their characteristics. We are learning how to use text features to gain a better understanding of the text. In math we are learning about division and how it is related to multiplication. In science we are learning about plant and animal life cycles.
