We are having a great week at Jacks Creek Elementary! Our Fall Festival was amazing! Thank you to everyone that came out to support our school! We are very thankful for your involvement! Important dates to remember: Nov. 17 – Thanksgiving Lunch; Nov. 21-25 – Thanksgiving Break; and Dec. 8 – Cozy Classic Christmas Parent Involvement Night.
The Beekeepers of the Week are Pailyn Shumate and Peyton Bethune. Pailyn’s favorite book is “Green Eggs & Ham.” Her birthday is Oct. 1, and her favorite food is spaghetti. Peyton’s favorite book is “Junie B. Jones.” Her birthday is Nov. 12, and her favorite food is steak.
Kindergarten had a great week. Students continued to work hard on learning sounds, letter formation, syllables, blending CVC words to read, counting to 50, learning about addition, 3D shapes and recognizing sight words. We appreciate everyone who was able to support our school by helping donate or participate in the Fall Festival.
We have had a great week in first grade! We have read “The Girl with the Red Slipper” and “Billy Beg.” We discussed how the stories are similar and different. We had a guest reader dress up as Billy Beg. In math we finished a topic on word problems within 10 and began a new topic on adding within 20. We enjoyed the Make Litter Disappear assembly as well! It was a fun week full of magic and learning. We are continuing to improve our reading and math skills in second grade. We are learning about graphs, line plots and data in math. We are preparing for our next big assessment in December as well as our Christmas program.
Third grade is learning about gravity and how it plays a role in our solar system. We have conducted experiments on gravity and recorded data. In math we are learning about math patterns to help us solve multiplication problems. We want to thank Mrs. Melinda for having a book fair at our school! The kids loved it!
