We are having a great week at Jacks Creek Elementary! We loved seeing all our parents here to eat for our Thanksgiving meal. It sure puts a smile on our students’ faces. Important dates to remember: Dec. 8 – Cozy Classic Christmas Parent Involvement Night.
The Beekeepers of the Week are LilyAnne Johnson and Jude Dawkins. LilyAnne’s favorite book is “Aladdin.” Her birthday is Sept. 26, and her favorite food is chicken. Jude’s favorite book is “Junie B. Jones.” His birthday is April 7, and his favorite food is burgers.
Kindergarten had another great week! Students are blending words and reading simple sentences. In math we focused on counting to 50, addition, and 3-D shapes. We also did some fun Thanksgiving activities. Students enjoyed getting to eat lunch with the families who were able to come Thursday for our special lunch. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Students return Nov. 28.
This week in first grade, we continued comparing stories. We compared “Tom Thumb,” “Thumbelina,” and “Issun Boshi.” In skills we finished up Unit 2. We took tests over vowel teams, reading comprehension and common and proper nouns. In math we began adding numbers to 20 using number lines, doubles and near doubles. We are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with our loved ones next week
We are so thankful for everyone that got to attend our Thanksgiving lunch. We are enjoying our Thanksgiving break in second grade and hope you are too!
Third grade we are learning about the International Space Station. We are learning that astronauts have many challenges while orbiting Earth. In math we are wrapping up multiplying by multiples of 10 (example, 50×70). They have done very well with this standard! We hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving break with family and friends!
