We are having a great week back at Jacks Creek Elementary! We hope that everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving break! It was so nice to see so many smiling faces this week as we start back at school. Important dates to remember: Dec. 8 – Cozy Classic Christmas Parent Involvement Night and Dec. 16 – Christmas Parties, Program and Half Day.
The Beekeepers of the Week are LilyAnne Johnson and Jude Dawkins. LilyAnne’s favorite book is “Aladdin.” Her birthday is Sept. 26, and her favorite food is chicken. Jude’s favorite book is “Junie B. Jones.” His birthday is April 7, and his favorite food is burgers.
Kindergarten had another great week! Students are blending words and reading simple sentences. In math we focused on counting to 50, addition and 3D shapes. We also did some fun Thanksgiving activities. Students enjoyed getting to eat lunch with the families who were able to come Thursday for our special lunch. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Students returned Nov. 28.
We enjoyed celebrating Thanksgiving in the last few weeks in first grade. We have read several Thanksgiving books and learned about Pilgrims and Indians. We have completed some fall writings about how to cook a turkey and what it would be like to be a scarecrow. We also made a doubles math fact turkey.
We are rested from our break and are excited to get back to work in second grade. We have much to do before Christmas break and are trying to squeeze in as much knowledge as possible. Thank you for having your child well rested and prepared for the school day.
Third graders are wrapping up what we have learned about the International Space Station. Students are writing an informational piece on the life of an astronaut aboard the International Space Station. In math we are beginning our unit on area. In science we are learning about food chains. We are so happy to have everyone back from break! We are ready to buckle down and get ready for our next Benchmark Assessment.
