We are in the spirit to celebrate all of our students’ hard work. They have worked hard to complete testing before our Winter Break. Parent Involvement was a huge hit! We had the best time and loved seeing our families at our school. Important dates to remember:
Dec. 16 – Christmas Parties and Program
Dec. 16 – School Dismissed at 11 a.m.
Jan. 4, 2023 – Students Return
The Beekeepers of the Week are Josue Calixto and Lily Rogers. Josue’s favorite book is “Pet the Cat.” His birthday is Aug. 23, and his favorite food is pizza. Lily’s favorite book is “Cat in the Hat.” Her birthday is Feb 1, and her favorite food is tacos.
Kindergarten is completing their end of term assessments. We are reading informational texts and learning to compare and contrast. In math we are adding and subtracting within 10.
First graders are continuing to soak in the read aloud about stars and outer space. They could not believe the fact that if our sun was a bowl and Earth was a marble then one million Earth marbles could fit into our Sun. They were also amazed by the fact that if we could travel in the fastest rocket ship to our nearest star, that it would take about 73,000 years to be exact to reach the nearest star beyond our sun! Also, the boys and girls are finishing up their first book report. They read the story “The Two Dogs” in their reading books and then they used a graphic organizer when planning their report, and now they are writing their first draft.
We are so thankful in second grade for the wonderful “Cozy Classic Christmas” we got to experience with our friends and family at school. We would like to thank everyone that made it possible! We are looking forward to our Christmas break after all the hard work we have put in this year.
Third grade will wrap up their Benchmark Testing. I am so proud of their hard work and patience during these testing days. I love seeing them grow and show growth! In reading we have read “The Grinch” and “The Polar Express.” We are using third grade standards to take these classic stories and find the plot, character traits and theme. In math we are continuing to learn about area and perimeter. They will create a Santa’s village using the area.
